Yes I will stop responding to your posts. I did try to read backwards to see if there were circumstances I didn't understand before responding. I didn't go far back enough.
Of course you can't visit from 16 hours away.

Skyping was a good suggestion: my uncle was in Hamilton. His son, my cousin, is in California. It helped. Even when my uncle could no longer recognize him, my uncle heard his voice and the Hamiton brother and his brother talked a little and included their dad. Tablets don't cost much these days.

What a tough time for you Kim - like Tracie I wish for you a calmer weekend and rest. I hope Chuck feels more settled too. As you say the decisions about hospice can wait until next week.

Most of the time we don't have the answers – and usually what is really needed is a listening ear, and knowing others are ‘in your corner’ supporting you – even if from a distance.

Today Chuck is well enough to go to the Day Support Program. Don't know how long he will be there but even an hour is nice.   Will be able to get some housework done and if he is there longer, may even be able to work on some of my quilting.

I love working on my quilting, it's a passion and right now, my world of escape.  While I sew, I totally get lost while I work on a quilt, it seems I forget about everything that is going on around me, it's so wonderful.  I have 3 quilts I have to finish by the end of May...I need to get my butt in gear Laughing and get them done.

The sun is shining here which is so nice...have a good day.

Hi Kim
That's great that Chuck was able to get out for a bit and you were able to relax - even as you say, if for a short time.

Do you work on more than one quilt at a time? Are the patterns the same? What a creative process - I can see how it would take you to a different place in your mind. Do you have pictures?

Currently I am working on 4 different quilts.  Three are for charity purposes and one is a memory quilt for friends that lost their two yr old son to cancer.  They presented to me all his receiving blankets, towels, scarves and other blankets and I'm making them a king size quilt for their bed.  It's taken them four years to be able to come to this point.

They are quite an amazing couple.  After their son passed, they created a charity after their son passed called "Alexander's Quest" and grant 2nd wishes to terminially ill children.  They are much smaller wishes unlike the Children's Wish Foundation.  They do such things like hockey tickets to the Calgary Flames, buying favorite toys, stuff like that.

Two of the charity quilts I'm working on is for their annual fundraiser...one for a boy (star wars quilt) and one for a girl (princess quilt).  They have become very popular at the fundraisers.

The other charity quilt is for the Adult Day Support Program my husband attends.  Twice a year they hold a Craft Sale to raise funds to help with the various things they purchase for the program.  My quilts have also done very well with helping the program and it's my way of giving back.

I've done well over 200 quilts and none of them ever look the same.  I call them "Gramma Kim's Hugs".  I have yet to make one for myself Tongue Out

You can see some of the items I've made for my precious grandchildren (4), charitable items, and other stuff.  I have always loved to sew, quilt and dabble with crocheting.

Hi Kim,

What a busy lady you are. I just took a look at your work and it's beautiful. It's great that you have an escape from the stress in your life and with all that you are going through, you still think of others. How long of a break did you get yesterday? How did Chuck handle the trip? I can see how much love you put into everything that you do and how big your heart is.

I hope that you had sunshine again today. I find that it helps to lift our spirits.

My mother and I cared for my dad at home, he had Cancer and died at home. It was really really hard on us. For me to have afull time job, have my own 3 kids and my husband to take care of it was really hard times. I can just say I am feeling with you who look at a person at home, I pray that God bless you.
