Katherine

Thanks for answering my question and providing further info to the links of support.

Marg, I too like - One breath at a time! Helps one stay in the present moment.

Storybook, it was a typo.  Sessions are for Grief & Bereavement both.

However, I have heard this differentiation:

GRIEF:  The initial overwhelming emotions of loss.

BEREAVEMENT:  When one reaches out for heip.  ie  grief therapy and or group sessions.

THE JOURNEY OF HEALING:  An endeavour that lasts a lifetime.  In this case, the nomenclature is the definition and explanation.

Storybook and MargMarie:  Have you had any help from any grief counsellors?

I am not a grief counsellor or therapist or professional.  I am simply a volunteer who helps out with psychosocial/spiritual care at two area hospices.

Ask the moderator Katherine to refer you to an appropriate resource in your area.

So, you might be wondering, "Doesn't eKim have a life?"  He's always blogging.  lol

Actually, I do.  I'm sitting here multitasking.  I'm watching my beloved Toronto Maple Leafs and typing away as I do.

I have a wonderful prayerful meditation that encompasses the "one breath at a time" philosophy that you speak of.  It combines peace, gratitude and hope in a very sweet, calming lightening of spirit.

Please remember to remind me about it if you want to start a "Spiritual" thread on this forum.

And you have to remind me.  My Senior Moments lately have been threatening to morph into Senior days.  lol

eKim

ps  It seems that every time I look down to type, Montreal scores.  I'd better stop blogging.  lol

Night, night.

Yes, I've started talking to a grief counsellor, only had a couple sessions so far though.
I'm also doing a grief group via Zoom, it's kinda structured so it's not always applicable to what I'm  experiencing that week. Being part of the community does help, although I find it quite mentally exhausting listening to other's stories.

Haha - never questioned if "eKim has a life". We all put our time & energy into what's important, so if you're posting here while multitasking then you're doing life your way & doing what is meaningful to you!

I'd like to know more about the prayerful meditation that combines peace, gratitude & hope. Do share when you have time.

Best of luck to your TO Maple Leafs!
And it's a YES to a spiritual/faith thread!

I too would be interested in sharing about how our faith helps navigating through the tough times, I don't understand what you mean by a thread, is that a different website?

A thread is simply a brand new posting with a different title.

It prevents an existing thread (series of postings) from becoming too long, too difficult to navigate and too varied in subject matter.

A new thread with a new title, helps people follow a subject matter that may be of interest to them.  Or to ignore a subject that does not interest them.

I am a bit busy with my hospice work at present, but I promise I will start 2 new threads when things settle down a bit.  They will start a discussion on:

  1. Spirituality

  2. A simple breathing meditation that really helps me and might help others.

Just to add to what eKIM said, the threads suggested by him would fit nicely under the topic Reflections and Inspiration.  And of course all members can start a thread.

And to add to his comments about a thread getting long, the longest I know is
But who advocates for me  which has 707 posts.

Take care all

Katherine

How are you MGB/MIke?

Three quick things before I get too busy - lots of hospice stuff to do today.

  1. MGB, where are thee.  This is a place of open hearts.  If you need to vent, do so, please.  We are here for you.

  2. Katherine, you make me smile with your sweet comments ie the 707-long thread.  We have to "give our grief a voice", but it's nice to see some "light moments" as well.  Grieving is such a hard row to hoe.  We need to sit back and "smell the roses" once in a while.  ps As you can see, I love my metaphors.  Do roses really need hoeing?  lol

  3. If I post something new in reflections and inspirations, Katherine: What is the best way to provide a link to it when I am in another thread, such as this one?

Happy Monday!!!  - eKim

There are two ways to let others know about the new thread:

1. You post - I sget notification of every post and then I let others know
2. You post-- you add a link to the name of the thread (using the link icon in the top panel of the reply box) in this current thread. Once you highlight the title the link icon appears dark blue.

Does that make sense?  I will add this to information that is 'good to know' in the next Discussion Forum enews. '

Thank eKIM
Katherine
