Seeking help in Vancouver - any links or suggestions?

Friends of mine live in Gibson's Bc. Both are living on disability pensions and it was recently discovered that he (b) has prostate cancer. In the last few months, he and his spouse M have had to travel quite often by bus and ferry to Vancouver Bc for different tests after his diagnosis.
They have contacted the cancer society for financial assistance to help M have a place to stay while B is in to have his surgery this Friday, June 7th. They filled out a form last week but have heard nothing back and are becoming increasingly upset about not knowing who to turn to. Does anyone have any suggestions or links that could be helpful to them? Or if someone knows of someone in the North Vancouver area that would be willing to accomodate her (M) for a day or so that would be super as well. Hotels are hard for them as they don't have a credit card for a room. If anyone has any idea they would feel much better.

Thanks Jennifer (PSW)

Hi Jennifer,

This is not the stress they need added to everything else. I'll put my thinking cap on. In the meantime, may I suggest that you pose your question to our clinical nurse specialists on Ask a Professional? They can help you connect with on-the-ground resources.

You may also want to ask at Prostate Cancer Canada. Their head office is in Toronto at
1-888-255-0333.

I hope others from the community have more tangible leads.
