There is no question that there are wicked people out there. Sue is right. I shudder when I read local stories.
There are many people who can help.
Ask for a volunteer through your local Community Home Support group. The cancer society has volunteer drivers, but so do many organisations. Here, in Lanark County, we have free drives to appointments. chslc.ca
This is what I have done as a volunteer, driven and/or accompanied people to appointments. The beauty of this is I can scribe for the client and take good notes, which is what I've done for my hubby for his 24 appointments (so far). It's been a journey.

Look for the 211 information centres. In Ontario it is 211ontario.ca or somesuch, but many provinces have them.
They will hook you up.
Best of luck with it all.

Hi Sue
Have you had your second appointment or is that to come? Is there a possibility you could get another scooter?

As it happens, friend of ours came in to a windfall and has bought me a good reconditioned scooter. I was kind of gob-smacked, really! I wish I could make a shout-out to the place we bought it from. They've been great, too. Thanks everyone for all the advice.
I didn't think for one second about a volunteer driver. What a good idea. It's something that I would normally suggest to someone else, though. Isn't it odd how, when it comes to ourselves, everything we would normally do or suggest for someone else just goes right out the window? I was a disability advocate for five and a half years, but everything I learned from that just goes poof when it comes to me, LOL
Be happy

What lovely news Sue!! Your friend is one to be cherished, which I'm sure you do.

Why is it when we have to advocate for ourselves, we so often lose the ability? I have experienced this myself. When it comes to the needs of my child or my parents, I ask politely or with a roar - whatever the situation requires and I keep asking until I get the information I need. How can we stop it from going "poof" when it comes to ourselves?

Take care,
Colleen

Morning Katherine,
Sorry it took so long to respond. It's turned in to a kind of roller coaster ride here; recurrent infections, lots of pain and fatigue ... in truth it's pretty much sucked. And our tech stuff is beginning to fail structurally and we have no way to get newer stuff so no way of telling when we will suddenly be non-internet. But as the saying goes, Life is what happens when we have other plans.
I don't have my own doctor at this moment, but the doc at the primary care clinic is wonderful! Unfortunately he doesn't have his own office, just the clinic. On the other hand they don't seem to be in any rush for me to get someone else. Their main concern is that I have someone no matter what.
So my condition was changed this past week. (Downgraded?) And now it feels REAL. Funny how it can all be happening but you're a little mentally removed from it all. And then one word can make it Real! But the stuff I've been letting slide realy does need to get done now. I think what I'll do is call up our local hospice to ask where to go for assistance with all these things. Seems to me that if anyone would know, they would.
Take care & hope to talk again soon,
(Crossing my fingers) Sue

Hi
I have a number of ways of opening this response to you but my eyes and heart have been focused on the Real!

I think it's a very good idea to contact the hospice Sue. They will know how to assist you - and if they don't will know who to contact. It doesn't sound like looking for a doctor is on anyone's list - least of all the clinic you are attending - so that's a very good thing too.

But thinking about the Real - it's one thing to know you can contact them and another to know you need to contact them.

I am wondering if others like JennJilks might have a suggestion for your internet woes. I can't imagine you not having that access.

How are your children and husband faring with the changes that have been happening?

Thinking of you Sue and the Real. (All body parts are crossed.)
Katherine

Things are going at kind of a snails pace. That's okay though. I did write a blog that is actually relevant to here.
I had so much trouble finding a tracker that will handle medication and symptoms for more than one condition. I've been developing this one over the past 7 or 8 months and have it to where it finally pretty much works for me. I figured there must be a lot of people who could use the idea for their own tracker.

Hi Sue
Thanks for this - I am sure others will find it helpful too. Are you going to patent it?:)

I was looking at an earlier conversation you and Colleen had and the word advocacy was mentioned. It reminded me of a thread started by oldbat But who advocates for me?  Not sure if you have seen it already or not but you might find it interesting reading.

How is the weather out there? We are now having some lovely warmer weather with sun that makes the world outside my window look rather lovely.
Happy Thanksgiving Sue

I don't know what you mean by patenting. It's just a method...? Is there someoen I should talk to about it?
Thanks for the link to the advocay topic! Much appreaciated.
It is POURING right now and I have pheumonia again, so oh yehaw. Have I ever warned people here that I use sarcasm quite a lot? I probably should have before now lol. It still looks pretty outside my window, but I've always loved to watch the rain fall on a quiet afternoon.
Happy Thanksgiving
Sue
