COPD & Bronchiectasis

Last march I logged on to your site to ask a question. I got a few responses
but no answers to my question, so I'll try again.
I have COPD and bronchiectasis diagnosed 9 years ago.
I have been on oxygen for over 2 years...2 lpm.
I cough about 300 times a day to remove mucus from my lungs.
I am on 9 medications and use several machines to help me breathe.
My lung Dr. tells me I have 3 to 5 years to live.
I use a walker for more than 100 steps.
My energy level is extremely low.
I'm wondering if there are people out there who are in a more advanced
condition than I am who could tell me what to expect during the next
couple of years in terms of what additional difficulties I will have
in breathing, mobility, etc.  Thank you,  Tacos

Hi Tacos,
Welcome back to Virtual Hospice. We did have quite a conversation going on the last thread you started in March My lung disease. I thought maybe you had found some answers on the message board COPD Canada. We're happy to have you back on the discussion forums.

I would really like to help you find some answers from peers and will continue to search for people to share with you. In the meantime, you may wish to send your questions to our clinical team at Ask a Professional. They will respond within 3 business days.

How has you condition changed since we last spoke 7 months ago in March?

Hello Tacos,

I just wanted to respond to your message.  I am going to keep you in mind and see if I can't come up with someone or some link that would be of help to you.

I agree with you that Knowledge = Power and that it is important to know as much as you can about your own condition and expectations.

Having said that, I am also sure that not everyone has exactly the same experience.  It is still helpful to find others who understand.

Hoping that today is going well for you - and stay in touch.  I am going to do a bit of searching.

Colleen gave you some great advice about questions to the medical team at Ask a Professional.  In the meantime, know you are not alone.
Best wishes,
NatR

Hi NatR - Thanks for your note. Just to give you a bit more info... I'm not looking for warm
fuzzies or false hope, I know I'm on the short road toward death, and I'm OK with that.
I'm just looking for some practical data about the next physical difficulties I will have...
like breathing, clearing mucas, sleeping, I don't plan on rushing off to the Hospital and my
wife and kids know that. Tacos
