Trying to connect with someone who lost a loved one to a drunk driver

Hi,
Im looking for my daughter, 9 years old, to find a friend she can be share stories, ideas of how to get through tough times ahead, especially xmas and summer breaks. Just talk it out. Be angry, frustrated, sad, lost, confused, build a friendship, try to be a kid again, have fun.  Right now, she ignores her feelings and just goes through the motions. But I know deep down, it hurts and I just want her to talk it out.

Hello Kira,
What a very hard experience for your dear daughter and for you. I am looking into resources for you - and will let you know as soon as I am able.

I know the important person on your mind right now is your little girl, but I wonder what supports you have or are receiving?

Warmly hiugging you virtually,
Katherine

Kira, I connected with Andrea Warnick  who had a couple of suggestions.

You could connect with MADD and the Bob Kemp hospice as their bereavment resources are for children your daughters age.  Andrea said she would encourage you to ask specifically if they have any other youth who are experiencing grief due to a drunk driver as they may be willing to informally connect families.

Katherine
