Caring for Husband with terminal brain tumour

My husband was diagnosed end May 2015 with 3 multi focal Gliomas which are terminal he is now totally immobile doubly incontinent and can no longer communicate life is so tough for all of us and I know from previous conversations with him this was everything he was dreading

Oh my - how hard for everyone. I wish it were not so.  I am sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Welcome to the community.  I am glad you found us. The community members will be quicker to follow up with you than I have been.

I am not sure if you read the thread My husband has Glioblastoma  started by Mollee. If you post on her thread she and the others on the thread, Kimmy61, JennJilks and Carlyn will be sure to see.  Although each person’s experience is different these people (and others on the forum) will understand and support you. 


Do you have others in your family or friend circle that can support you?

I saw your message and want you to know that there are people here that listen and will support you. My heart breaks for you because I just went through it with my husband. Stay strong and I hope you have family and friend support, do not be afraid to lean on them. If there is anything you want answered I will try my best to help you out. Take care and cherish every second.

Thankyou for your replies getting lots of support from McMillan carers twice daily sits four hours twice a week to give me and my two grown up kids who share my husbands care a break and two night sits which helps x

Just wondering how the past week has been for you and your family.  

I have heard good things about McMillan carers in the UK. Do your children live with you or nearby?

Are you finding you are able to sleep at night?

Had a tough week last week Lee's catheter needed changing as it was blocked very painful for him then he had a fit midweek first one in a while last few days struggling to wake him to eat and take his medication called GP told to be prepared for the worse had an horrendous day yesterday telling family then when he woke this morning he was alert ate really well took his meds himself and spoke clearly first time in months really lovely to see I have to children in there early twenties at home which is a massive help and the McMillan nurses are fantastic as are the local hospice carers and sitters thankyou for asking

Sleeping ok better on some nights than others have two night sits from hospice from 10pm-8am which is a great help
