Dear Colleen,

I was writing in the « Discussion Forums» and suddently lost the my message.

Is there a way to retrieve my half finished discussions?

In Google email, there is always a «save» messge and we can go back to finish the message.

I find this forum not very user-friendly....Too many little windows or icons and this disturb the concentration on the writer.

Hi Marianne,

Thank you for your comments. Can you tell me what happened when you lost your message? Did you leave the computer for a period of time or did the message disappear while you were writing it?

I'm going to investigate your suggestions with our technical team.

Thanks again

Colleen

Hi Marianne,

Unlike email programs, social networking platforms do not generally have a "save" feature. For example in Gmail you can save a draft of your email messages in your drafts folder, however  Google's social network Google+ does not allow you to save drafts of your posts. This is the same on Facebook and all of the discussion forums I researched.

I agree that writing a thoughtful post takes time and can't always be done in one sitting, especially when writing about sensitive and emotional subjects as those discussed on our forum. I usually write my messages in a Word or Notepad docuement first and then paste into the forum. I find this especially helpful if I want to leave the message sit for a while and re-read it before posting.

Does anyone else like to ponder their messages before posting or do you prefer the spontaneity of forums, spelling mistakes and all?

Hello Colleen,

I was writing, but probably hit a key without realizing it, then my message just disappeared!!!

In this kind of forum, i know that i have to finish my thoughts before getting up...

I do find it is very difficult (more than being a physical presence at the hospital) to express your thoughts or feelings online...Because you have to be so very careful so as not to write something that can boomerang on you!!!

Took note of your suggestion: will write on Notepad first and then paste on the forum; it is definitely more secure and easier on the writer.

The hardest part in this forum is that you dont know whether there are still people who would write so that you can answer...or reply.

For this Holiday season, it would be difficult to sit down and chat, as we are running around a lot!

Thanks for your attention to my comments,

Until next time,

cocopham

Hi Cocopham,

You can be sure that your messages are being read and are very much appreciated. For every post there are at least 100 readers. You are playing a very important role of helping to re-establish the Virtual Hospice community. Activity begets activity. It takes a little practice to write online, but I am confident that your thoughtful messages will help many and soon people will respond.

Why don't you join the conversation started by KathyKastner and NatR? Talking about dying with those who are dying
