Remembering Mom - celebrating her Day!

It was the second Mother’s Day after Mom’s passing and I was feeling sad knowing I couldn’t be with her to share our memories and laugh together about long ago events. But then my two daughters called to wish me Happy M Day   - as they called it - and I thought my Mom would be so happy for me. So this poem reflects the double sided nature of my remembering – me sad missing Mom, me happy celebrating this Day and the continuity of mothering linked to the past and forward into the future.

Mother’s Day Renewal

My mother is dead.

I’m no longer a daughter.

Then who am I now?

Loss of a role.

Rebuild my life.

Who will I become?
No longer a daughter.
Mom passed away.

Celebrate.

I’m a mother
with two daughters.

Celebrate
our continuity.

Mother’s Day renewal.

Please join me in sharing our love and tributes to our Moms.

Hi Claudia..

I am sure that your "Mday" was both special (with your daughters) and sad (cause you are still grieving your mom)... but i am sure that she is watching and guiding over you and shevwoukd bevsoo oroud of you!  You have those beautiful memories of the time shared and spent with her...Treasure them Laughing....

That poem was beautiful.
Take care

Thank you so much for your comforting thoughts, Nadine. It has taken me four long years of  sorrowing to finally reach a point where the joyful memories now are taking over and pushing the deep sadness away.

Wishing you solace as you continue to share what's happening in your life.
