Good morning:

It has been avery long time since I have posted on this site.

I used to hangout here quite a bit for the  delight, grace, and companionship I met here.

I do not know if Old Bat is still an active membef though I saw a reasonably recent entry by her.

In any event, I wish you all well.  In a world seemingly slipping steadily into hostilities, I have always found the  CVH to be a place of refiuge, compassion, and good will.

Best wishes to one and all

Jimmie

Hi Jimmie et al!

I never imagined, when I started this thread 10 years ago  that it would still be going strong now!  I am so glad that it is still offering hope, compassion and shared laughter to everyone who drops by.  I am also sad that the same cannot be said of our government, at any level.  It seems not much has changed there.  Promises, yes.  Actual action, not so much.

Jimmie, I have missed you over the years.  Your way with words always amazed,  amused and delighted me.  It also comforted me, and continues to do so, in different ways , even now.

I am still in long-term care.  Still advocating from within  through Resident and Family Councils and, on a wider scale, through OARC (Ontario Association of Resident Councils.)  I have just been appointed to their advisory board - so the beat will go on!

I am planning to spend some time this week catching up on all that I have missed ( and I really have missed you all) at CVH.  I look forward to reading your stories and, perhaps, even sharing more of my own.

Katherine, I miss you and your always- encouraging words as well.

Oldbat

Good morning all on this discussion group
It has been a while since I was in touch.

Was grateful when I received an email saying Ol Bat and Jimmie were back on line and had to get back on stat.
Have a lot of questions however they will have to wait this morning as I am off to get X-rays. Old arthritis is kicking up a storm in my shoulders etc. seems he/she thinks I am her friend and just wont leave.
Old bat glad to see you are still on board and Jimmie missed your poetic writing.
All for now it's seven a.m. And it takes me longer to get ready for. Any excursion so all for now.
       Hugs and regards
        Xenia

Hi Xenia, here's a tip.  I used to lose stuff I wrote too on this site.  I began writing it first on my word processor Microsoft Word and then copying and pasting it to this site.  If it gets lost, I just have to re copy and paste, not re-write.

Greetings thanks for the tip.
been busy doing the senior things.  Doctors appointments and all that goes with post leg surgery.old bat do you recall the error I made calling you another word of endearment.  Old etc.
jimmie so good to hear from you once more.
Became a great grandma in the past few years and enjoying it very much.  Just wish that John could have been here to welcome his great grandson.  He did love children very much.
Still living in a Seniors independent housing.  Not as active as I was when I first moved in but keep busy with certain ac.  We had our yearly Christmas bake sale which is attended very well.  Have the best son in law,he baked five yes five dozen bran muffins and they all sold. Not the regular muffins, he puts in walnuts, blueberries, ground flax and apple sauce to cut the oil and they are the best.  Sold out the moment the doors are opened.  He didn't bake before and now since he retired he's baking for the family and friends, using my recipe but perfecting it to his own recipe.
Getting close to exercise time, sitting yoga so off I go.  Take care.
        Regards to all Xenia

Hi Everybody, it’s Ekim aka Michael

I’m responding to this post from the December newsletter.  I just want to touch base with everyone and wish you all a wonderful holiday season.

There are so many pages in this posting, that I’m not sure if I’m in there or not.  lol

I have volunteered with Canadian Virtual Hospice since 2012 and I thoroughly enjoy supporting people who post here – people who are grieving and fellow volunteers..

I am a volunteer also with a couple of local hospices but I put myself on medical leave after being diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer Dec 6th 2023.

If anyone needs a good listener and needs to get something off their chest – we are here for you.

I love the people on this site. It would be nice to occasionally read, get updates and contribute to postings of people who are interested in keeping in touch.  If anyone is interested in doing this, let me know.

Hi everyone,
I am sorry for the long delay in my reply but I was away and was having some trouble with having my posts post!

This thread brings back lots of good memories of people over the years.

Happy New Year.
Katherine
