Volunteer training is mandatory for all volunteers prior to being matched with clients. In recognition of hospice palliative care volunteers as a discipline (member of the inter-disciplinary team), volunteer practice is grounded in deep values and principles. Hospice Greater Saint John clearly outlines these values and principles, the 11 core competencies addressed throughout their 30-hour training program, as well as the expected learning outcomes of their volunteer education program in this document.
