Amazing Discovery

Hi all,
I wanted to take a minute to share something that I have found truly amazing about this board. I came here to ask for help, to look for someone to hear me. I am in such pain over what is happening in my life. I found many caring people that have reached out to me. It has made a huge difference in this battle I am fighting. There has been a side effect to coming here as well.

I have reached out to some other posters; other people who are going through devestating pain, be it from loss or from caring for others.  I have drawn strength from trying to make the connection and have felt such a good feeling of warmth from this. I can put aside what I am going through for a few minutes and hopefully help another who needs me. Do something for someone that is not my husband. I am empowered by this. I am amazed by this. Who'd have known that trying to help a stranger could make me feel better? I certainly didn't, but it does.

I came here for help and this board and its members just keep on giving. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't found it, but I did. I am so grateful. I wanted you all to know.

Dear Mary,

Thank-you for giving us such positive feed-back. You have proven again that you are never alone in your difficulties as their are always other people somewhere that share your needs. Many love to respond to hurting people and just like you, they often help others in return. Please keep us posting here. You encourage all of us.

Hi Mary,

This truly is a place where the unexpected happens. Like you I came here looking for support and within a short time found myself wanting to reach out and help others who had just arrived here. It's an incredible feeling to know that even while you are going through your own suffering, that you have the ability to bring comfort to someone else. This is why, a year and a half after arriving here, I am still coming back. I believe it brings healing to share our burdens and to know that we all can make a difference in someone else's life. This forum is absolutely amazing.

Hugs,
Tracie

Dear Mary,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for articulating the multiple benefits of the Virtual Hospice community. As the community moderator, I observe the secondary benefit of peer sharing day in and day out. It is what makes me love what I do. Often people turn to others in time of need and then quite quickly become mentors helping others. It can be so healing. How wonderful that the Interrnet has enabled people in isolated situations, like caring for someone at end of life, to be able to connect with others to get support and give support.

I'm going to share this thread with the whole team at Virtual Hospice.

Hi everyone,

Putting Mary's benefit into action, I'd like to invite all of you to welcome new member Nouce to our group. She posted about caring for her husband for longer than expected and the challenges of prolonged palliative care. Can you please say hi to her on the thread that she started here:

how to be patient and hopeful

Thanks
Colleen
